01Overview

Fulltone Collection recreates three effects from Fulltone, a manufacturer founded in 1991 with the aim of building stompboxes that sound like vintage pedals but are more rugged and reliable. The collection covers two stompboxes and one rack unit. Each is modeled for AmpliTube, IK Multimedia's amp and effects simulator, and can be used on guitar as well as on synths, vocals, drums and bass. The plugin runs as a 64-bit plugin in VST3, VST2, AU and AAX formats.

The three effects and their character

The collection includes the OCD overdrive, which adds grit, punch and touch-sensitive response with harmonics that the developer says resemble a quality tube amp. The SSTE is a solid state tape echo based on the Echoplex EP-3, with a bpm sync function for DAW integration. Its tape head can be moved to create wobbling effects, and several units can be daisy-chained at different times and tape speeds.

The TERC is a rack chorus based on the Dyno My Piano unit sold in the 1980s under the Songbird and Dytronics names. It offers a preset mode with evolving, wavy modulation and a manual mode with separate intensity settings for the left, right and center channels. Even with modulation bypassed, the signal settles gradually, giving the clean sound a subtle movement.

Workflow, MIDI control and requirements

Because AmpliTube is fully MIDI compatible, the knobs, controls and presets of the collection can be assigned to a standard MIDI controller or to hardware such as the iRig Stomp I/O or iRig BlueBoard.

On Mac, the minimum setup is an Apple M1 or Intel Core i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM and macOS 10.15 or newer, with macOS 11 or newer required for Apple Silicon. Windows requires an Intel Core i5 or equivalent, 8 GB of RAM, Windows 10 (64-bit) or newer and an ASIO-compatible sound card. Both platforms need 3 GB of drive space, an OpenGL 2 compatible graphics adapter and an internet connection, since Custom Shop operations are web based.
