01Overview

The instrument is based on a traditional wind harp idea. A 120mm PC fan sits under the strings near the bridge and sets them sounding, producing steady drones on its own. Plucking with the fan off gives a tone close to a baritone electric guitar, while bowing, scraping and glissing the strings produces clusters, sound effects and moving drones. The library is delivered as one master NKI bank for Kontakt, with close stereo, direct line and SFX recordings to shape the sound in your own mix.

Sound Sources and Playing Techniques

The master bank includes steel-string sustains, E-bow, mutes and harmonics, with fan on and fan off versions. Close stereo and direct line recordings are included, so you can choose between a miked sound and an electric pickup tone.

The SFX articulations are the core of the library. Bowing, scraping and glissing the strings yields the clusters and undulating drones that the developer highlights. The library contains 3,411 stereo samples recorded at 24 bit / 48 kHz, taking up about 13.8 GB once installed.

Kontakt Controls, Arpeggiator and FX Rack

The interface offers multi-layer controls with LFO, filter, glide and an arpeggiator. The LFO has selectable shapes, targets, speed, intensity, tempo sync and fade-in time. The arpeggiator provides control over direction, timing, swing, randomization and duration, and a key and scale lock keeps notes within chosen scales.

A modular FX rack with 10 slots holds 18 DSP modules, including phaser, flanger, delay, distortion, amp and cab simulators, compressors and EQ. The convolution reverb includes 99 room, hall, chamber and outdoor impulses and 40 custom FX impulses. Twenty ambience patches and 20 sound-designed FX and ambient presets are included as starting points.
