01Overview

Temple Drums is a Kontakt instrument from Soundiron built around hall-recorded percussion. Each drum and bell was captured up close with a wide stereo image, and the library draws on drums and bells from several regional and ethnic traditions. Beyond hits and rim clacks, it includes live single-shot fills, rolls and tuned percussion, along with dark, sacred-sounding ambiences, pads and drones. The library runs inside the full version of Kontakt.

Drum and Bell Sound Palette

The library includes bass drum, large floor tom, rack toms, bongos, snare drums, djembe, doumbeks, frame drum and bodhran, large Tibetan hand cymbals, a Tibetan copper bell and a 36-inch flat gong. Soundiron recorded each instrument from a close, wide microphone position to keep clarity and presence while preserving a bright, lush room character.

Each articulation is sampled with up to 12 round robin variations per velocity layer, across multiple velocity layers, so repeated hits stay varied and dynamic. The set covers both hits and tuned percussion, giving you a broad range of tones for different styles.

The percussion is designed to layer well with other percussion elements and libraries.

Shaping Controls and Workflow

Temple Drums includes a custom interface with attack, edge, release, filter resonance and cut controls for shaping each sound. Bank preset loading supports optional key-switching, and adaptive arpeggiation lets you build patterns from the instrument.

A built-in convolution reverb offers 30 rooms, halls, spaces and special FX impulses, so you can place the drums in a space without loading a separate reverb. All samples are also supplied as categorized, clearly named stereo WAV files for use in other audio software.

The developer describes the library as suited to light to epic cinematic drum arrangements, concert percussion, drum replacement and orchestral percussion.
