Tape Character, Saturation and Compression
Tapewave is built around six tape styles, each with its own tonal character. Tape Age sweeps each style from new tape to heavily degraded, covering a wide range of cassette wear.
The saturation circuit is modeled on analog tape. Up to 16x oversampling keeps the drive smooth and free of aliasing, and you can switch between standard and efficient modes to manage CPU use.
Two compression modes are included. One is a Shure Level Loc emulation, which the developer describes as a vibey option. Use either mode to crush transients on drums or to tame dynamics more gently, and audition the compression before or after the tape stage.
