01Overview

Glow is built around a hybrid convolution and DSP engine that recreates the RMX reverb, a unit associated with gated drums, ambient synths and atmospheric vocals in 1980s records. The plugin keeps the original program character and adds custom processing for gating, ducking, transient smoothing and flux modulation. Its 14 programs cover halls, plates, rooms and more abstract reverse and freeze spaces.

Classic RMX Reverb Sound and Programs

Glow includes 14 reverb programs, among them Ambience, several Room and Hall variations, Plate A1 and B1, NonLin 2, Reverse 1 and 2, Image P1 and Freeze. Wave Alchemy says the engine recreates the sound of the original RMX, including programs that were only found in very early hardware units.

The NonLin 2 program is the gated room sound associated with drums, and the Reverse programs produce a three-dimensional space. The Ambience program is suited to lush synths and atmospheric vocals.

Shaping Reverb Within the Plugin

The Smooth control suppresses the initial transient of a sound before reverb is applied, keeping the body and sustain of the reverb. The Duck control lowers the reverb level based on the direct signal, so the dry sound stays clear without sidechain routing.

The Gate parameter turns any program into a gated reverb, with an internal sidechain that sets decay time from the input signal. The Flux control handles stereo filtering, width and pitch modulation in a single knob, ranging from subtle spatialization to chorusing.

Modern mode tightens the bass and adds a punchier tone circuit for busier mixes. Input, Output and Mix controls, phase coherent mono mode and optional tempo-sync pre-delay round out the processing options.
