01Overview

Spacelab Ignition brings reverb, panning and spatial audio together in a single plugin. Fiedler Audio designed it around treating each track as an object placed in a virtual room, so producers can build 3D mixes without complicated routing. The plugin is aimed at musicians and music producers, though its feature set also covers film, broadcast, game and VR/AR work. Its reverb uses an algorithm developed with Fraunhofer IIS.

Object-Based Reverb and 3D Panning

Ignition's reverb is adjustable on nine frequency bands, so you can shape decay separately across the spectrum. Each object gets its own early reflection pattern based on its position, and those reflections change continuously as the object moves through the room. The object-based 3D panner lets you place sources around the listener in the virtual room, with a 3D view to check arrangements at a glance. You can record movement with the mouse as automation, and set the listener position freely. Each source has its own dry/wet balance.

The plugin supports room simulations from small spaces to large venues, and any format from mono to full-sphere 3D audio.

Rendering, Speaker Layouts and Workflow

Ignition handles up to 24 inputs and outputs. It supports arbitrary speaker layouts with up to 256 speakers, and includes a full-sphere binauralizer for monitoring and producing for headphones. You can work in a classic send/return mode or an object mode for object-based mixing.

For complex mixes, dynamic automation simplifies control of hundreds of parameters, and a speaker layout editor lets you build custom layouts. The plugin connects directly to Fiedler Audio's Dolby Atmos Composer plug-ins from version 1.5. The separate Spacelab Beam plugin can route audio from anywhere in your session into Spacelab, which works around routing limits in your DAW.
