01Overview

armada is a studio utility plugin from Fiedler Audio built for immersive and multichannel production. It loads your existing VST3 effects into a wrapper that handles speaker layouts well beyond stereo. Mono, stereo, Higher Order Ambisonics, Auro-3D, Eclipsa and full Dolby Atmos mixes are all supported. Engineers working on surround or object-based projects can apply familiar processors across the whole session instead of rebuilding their chains for each format.

Multichannel processing for immersive mixes

Fiedler Audio positions armada as a way to use a VST3 effect on any channel layout. The developer lists support for any speaker layout, Higher Order Ambisonics, Auro-3D, Eclipsa and entire Dolby Atmos mixes. Channel counts run from mono and stereo up to 128 channels.

When armada is loaded as an OBAM plug-in, it sits on the Master Channel of the Dolby Atmos Composer and Mastering Console. In that role, one instance can process a full Dolby Atmos mix with any VST3 effect.

Global groups, sidechaining and session setup

Multiple armada instances can be linked across a session through global groups. The sidechain mixer lets you choose what feeds the sidechain input of the loaded VST3 plug-in, which makes linked dynamics processing possible on any format.

A built-in preset system helps split channels into groups quickly. You can also save custom grouping presets and reuse them across mixing and mastering sessions. A channel mixer adds finetuned control over the output signal, and multithreaded processing can be adjusted per instance for demanding plugins on high channel counts.
