01Overview

gravitas MDS is built around flexible dynamics control. Fiedler Audio positions it for mastering, though it can also process individual sources, groups and buses. Compression and expansion are both available, in upward and downward types, with curves that can be shaped across the full dynamic range. Its input configuration options are designed for multichannel signals, and its interface includes meters, an amplification curve and a moving level curve to show what the processor is doing.

Dynamics Shaping and Processing Options

gravitas MDS gives access to all four types of dynamics: compression and expansion, each in upward and downward form. Curves can be built for the entire dynamic range, so the same plugin can handle gentle, transparent level control or more aggressive shaping, depending on the settings.

Separate filters are available for the processing path and the level detection path, which lets you control how the signal is analyzed independently of what is being changed. Optional Mid/Side processing is available on stereo tracks, and a limiter function covers both gain reduction and gain increase.

Multichannel Support and Surround Workflows

The plugin handles every track format from mono and stereo up to 128 channels. Fiedler Audio says the input configuration dialog offers flexibility for multichannel signals, and a manual LFE volume adjustment is provided for surround formats.

An external side chain supports up to 64 channels, depending on your DAW. Parameter linking across all instances in a session and gradual channel linking and peak modes help keep behavior consistent across a multi-track project.
