RX 12 Standard Educational Version: Audio Restoration Plugin by iZotope

iZotope describes RX 12 as a large set of restoration tools with machine-learning features. The new features in this release include Stems View, which splits audio into stems through Scene Rebalance, Music Rebalance and Dialogue Isolate so that tools can be applied to each part separately. De-bleed is rebuilt with machine learning and is available as a real-time plugin. Breath Control detects, reduces and removes breaths in vocals and speech.

Music Rebalance adjusts individual elements of a mix, such as drums, vocals, bass and other instruments, using source separation. The developer says it works offline or in real time. Dialogue Isolate separates speech or vocals from noise and reverb in both offline and real-time modes.

RX 12 adds a larger spectrogram, a module search and a resizable History panel. The developer says these changes are meant to make edits faster, including on laptops.

The plugin formats are VST3, AU and AAX, and all are 64-bit. Supported operating systems are Windows 10 (22H2) and Windows 11 (24H2), and macOS Sonoma, Sequoia and Tahoe on Intel and Apple silicon Macs. Some tools are limited to certain formats. Repair Assistant is available as AAX Audiosuite, AU and VST3, while Ambience Match and De-rustle are available only as AAX Audiosuite. The Spectral Editor's ARA support depends on the host application.
