01Overview

Quad-2 Upgrade from Quad is built for existing Quad owners who want the newer Quad-2 features without buying the full version. Quad started as a Reason Rack Extension and was later released as a VST3, AU and AAX plugin. This upgrade refreshes the interface and adds a Ribbon Controller, expanded filter modes and new effects, while keeping the sound-design approach of the original synth.

Sound Design Tools and the Ribbon Controller

Each of the two oscillators includes Phase Distortion and WaveShaper tools. Two XY pads per oscillator control these tools, and they can be moved through an extensive modulation matrix or by the newly added Ribbon Controller.

The modulation matrix has 12 slots with the Ribbon as the default source, and it offers 200+ modulation destinations. Each slot can use a normal or advanced mode, with optional low and high thresholds and a bypass.

Filters, Arpeggiator and Built-In Effects

The filter section expands on the original with 43 standard filter types and 11 special types, including comb, ring and feedback modes. Filter paths include serial, parallel and several oscillator-routed options.

The arpeggiator now includes ratcheting and a Free row for controlling the oscillators' XY fields. Quad includes a stereo tape delay, reverb, 11 modulation effects such as chorus and TalkBox, 33 distortion effects, an equalizer and an FX filter. A bank manager covers the 1200+ presets.
