01Overview

PX Memories is built from multisamples of a fully serviced, modified Lintronics LAMM. The original hardware was made by a German company that went bankrupt in 1987 and is known for its unstable tuning and difficult navigation. The modification used here was developed by Lintronics to make the instrument stable, easier to edit and fully responsive to MIDI control change messages. UVI's sound design team then built a library of patches on top of the sampled hardware, aimed at giving producers a starting point for their own sound design.

Sound Design Engine and Layering

Each program in PX Memories works as its own layer, so you can load two programs at once and combine them. Each program has its own multimode filter, amp and filter envelopes, pitch and stereo controls, and unison settings. Together, two programs can produce up to 36 analog voices per note.

The patches were multisampled in normal, factory unison and the LAMM stereo unison modes. UVI says this lets unison modes be played polyphonically, which the hardware cannot do.

Modulation, Arpeggiators and Effects

PX Memories includes step and LFO modulators, versatile arpeggiators and modwheel assignments. A master effect section offers a 3-band EQ, drive, Thorus, ensemble, Phasor, delay and Sparkverb.

The library contains 353 presets made from 171 programs, sorted into 16 categories including basics, animated arps, bass, bells, brass, chords, keys, leads, pads, pluck, polysynth and strings. Every patch can be used as is or edited as a starting point.
