01Overview

EGP is UVI's electric grand piano instrument, modeled on the Yamaha CP-70 portable electric grand. Its recordings span five discrete channels: the electric output plus acoustic signals captured in L/R and M/S configurations. Each channel can be mixed, widened and processed independently, so the instrument can move from a dry acoustic mono sound to a full layered mix. The library includes 10 prepared piano styles and a preset collection for quick starting points.

Sound Design and Signal Control

EGP gives you separate control over its electric and acoustic signals. The acoustic section includes L/R and M/S sources, and the M/S signal can be switched to dual mono. Each signal has its own effect chain and ADSR amplitude control, so a reverb-heavy acoustic layer can sit beside an overdriven, chorused electric layer.

Level control and mutes are available for each mic and mic group. This lets you adjust stereo width and balance inside the instrument rather than after it, which keeps the piano's imaging consistent across the mix.

Playing Styles and Workflow

The ten prepared styles include classic, brush, bow, ebow, fingers, pick and stick. Each one comes with round robins, release samples, sympathetic resonance and pedal noise. The Wheel Strum control lets you play the piano in a guitar-like way, which is useful for rhythmic parts.

The interface places acoustic sources at the top and electric at the bottom, and is organized across three pages: Main, FX and Settings. An Extended Range switch provides a full 88-note range.
