PowerStrings is a symphonic string virtual instrument by MeldaProduction for producers working in pop, cinematic and hip-hop music. It runs as a VST3, VST2, AU or AAX plugin on Windows and macOS.
PowerStrings is built for producers who need lush string parts without booking a session. The instrument targets fast-paced pop and cinematic workflows, with a streamlined interface meant to keep you writing. MeldaProduction's developer describes it as a fusion of classic symphonic strings and a more contemporary sound. Its sample library is about 600 MB, so it stays lighter on CPU and RAM than many orchestral libraries.
PowerStrings offers a range of articulations, from smooth legato to crisp staccato. You can switch between them during a performance using the low keys of your keyboard.
Multiple articulations can be active at the same time. Each one has independent pitch and volume, which makes layering straightforward. Every articulation also has its own detailed envelope settings, so you can shape attack and release per sound.
The Creative tab goes beyond acoustic string tones. Convolution can make the strings sound more like a synth, and Frequency Modulation, harmonic control and Diffusion are also available for shaping the timbre.
The effects section includes a Reverb with five room and hall types, an advanced delay, a five-band EQ, Motion FX, Distortion, Chorus, Modulation and LoFi, so you can finish a sound inside the instrument.

PowerStrings is available in VST3, VST2, AU and AAX formats. It runs on Windows 8, 10 and 11 (64-bit) and on macOS 10.14 and newer (64-bit).
You need a 64-bit VST, VST3, AU or AAX compatible host. On Windows, an Intel or AMD processor with SSE2 support is required; on macOS, Intel, AMD or M1 processors with SSE2 support are supported, including native Apple Silicon ARM CPUs.
If you already own MSoundFactory or MSoundFactoryLE, PowerStrings can be downloaded for free from the installer page within MSoundFactory. It can also be bought separately using the free MSoundFactory Player.
