01Overview

MAutoEqualizer brings a parametric EQ, a spectrum analyzer and automatic equalization into one window. Its Filter Adaption technology analyzes your recording, a reference recording or a spectrum you draw, then configures the EQ bands to approximate it. Every band stays visible and editable, so you can see exactly what the plugin changes and adjust it by hand. The dry/wet control lets you set how much correction is applied.

Automatic EQ and Reference Matching

The plugin's automatic mode analyzes the long-term average spectrum of a recording and configures the EQ bands to approximate a requested resulting spectrum. Targets can come from a built-in set of comparisons to more than 80 well-known songs, from another recording, or from a curve you draw with the MeldaProduction Envelope System.

Averaging, smoothing and magnitude normalization are applied to the analysis, which the developer says improves the accuracy of the automatic result. A spectral separation feature can also fit a track into a mix.

Filters, Algorithms and Workflow

Each of the 10 bands offers seven filter types: peak, low-shelf, high-shelf, low-pass, high-pass, band-pass and notch. Q ranges from 0.05 to 10. All parameters can be adjusted directly on the frequency graph, including harmonics control.

Three equalization algorithms with approximately the same frequency response are available, including a true bidirectional filtering algorithm. Oversampling from 1x to 4x can reduce aliasing. The spectral analyzer includes a sonogram with super-resolution for bass frequencies and deharmonization for analyzing fundamental frequencies. The plugin supports up to 8 surround channels and MIDI learn for any parameter.
