01Overview

PITCHMAP Educational Version is built around Zynaptiq's Mixed-Signal Audio Processing technology, which separates a mixed input into individual sounds, including their harmonics and transients. Each separated sound can then be tuning-corrected and mapped to other pitches. The plugin can be played from a MIDI keyboard or driven by a pitch map drawn in its GUI. It is offered to full-time students and faculty at educational institutions.

How PITCHMAP Maps Pitch in Mixed Audio

Zynaptiq describes PITCHMAP as a plugin that processes the pitch of individual sounds inside a mixed signal rather than only a single track. Developers say the process works by splitting the input into separate sounds, then assigning source pitches to target pitches.

You can set those assignments by playing notes on a MIDI keyboard or by dragging sliders in the GUI. Macro controls can also move material from one key or scale to another. The plugin also includes Snapshot functionality with 8 slots for comparing settings and automating parameters.

Sound Options and Suppression Features

PITCHMAP includes a Natural Mode for processing voices alongside other instruments. It also offers Purify and Electrify parameters to make the sound more or less synthetic, plus a polyphonic portamento option named Glide.

Beyond pitch processing, the plugin can suppress or isolate individual elements of a mix. Zynaptiq recommends a playback buffer size of at least 512 samples, ideally 1024, and notes that the plugin uses a lot of CPU, so the free trial is suggested for checking your system.
