Phoscyon 2: 303-Style Bass Synth Plugin by D16 Group

Phoscyon 2 covers the familiar 303 synthesis knobs and adds Calibration Parameters. Resony Sound, the developer's name for these features, is not used here; D16 Group states that the calibration controls let you replicate the distinct character that different 303 units have.

The plugin also includes a vibrato effect. D16 says it reproduces the two-note tremolo trick used by a small number of 303 artists, smoothed by note sliding. Two knobs control the result: the two-note spread sets the vibrato range, and note duration sets the speed.

The distortion stage offers 19 models, which D16 says are based on well-known hardware units associated with 303 players. The effects chain also includes an algorithmic reverb, a 4-band parametric EQ, a tempo-synced delay, a chorus and a limiter. The effects can be reordered to change the sound of a riff.

The sequencer is designed for both live performance and studio work. You can edit patterns, loop them live and switch between them with a mouse, a MIDI controller or DAW MIDI notes. Pattern triggering can use MIDI notes, MIDI CC or the GUI.

Music Roulette is a randomizer built into the sequencer. You can switch between randomizing and editing a sequence, choose which notes and step attributes are randomized, and set density in real time. Live Override lets you influence Accent, Slide or Vibrato while playing.

Finished patterns can be dragged into your DAW. The GUI can be resized to fit your screen, and MIDI Learn can link almost any visible control to a MIDI controller.
