Tape Character and Pitch Movement
Outer Space 2 models three tape types: the original RT-1L, a more modern replacement, and an older, worn-out tape. Each one shapes the sound in a subtle but different way, especially at higher feedback settings.
Wow and flutter change with the selected tape, producing different amounts of pitch and volume instability. Changing the repeat rate also affects the tape frequency response. Together, these behaviors can produce the eerie pitch shifts associated with classic tape echo effects, caused by the Doppler effect as the delay rate changes.
