Sound Layers and Mixing Control
The instrument is recorded as four separate signals. The DI output gives the cleanest, purest tone. A guitar amp layer adds warmth and vintage colour. A stereo capture of the mechanical noise from the keys and tines adds acoustic detail. A mono tape echo reverb, captured through an old tape echo with an aged cartridge, adds a nostalgic texture.
Because each layer is separate, you can build the balance of clean tone, amp colour, key noise and vintage space to suit the track.
