Granular Engines and Sound Character
The two granular layers are the core of Fractal. Each can capture audio into a global buffer and generate grains from five playhead modes, including manual scan and offsets set in milliseconds or percent. Density, size, direction, width, shape and chaos controls shape the grains, while pitch and spread settings adjust their tuning and distribution.
A visual graph shows the audio buffer along with the number, position and pitch of the grains, which makes it easier to see what the engines are doing. The Space module adds a lush, atmospheric hall reverb with length and mix controls, useful for tying granular textures together.
