01Overview

Metro v2 is built for mixing and mastering. It derives note-length values from the session tempo and gives you a table of recommended candidates to feed into the parameters of dynamics processors. The developer describes the approach as moving from a feel-only method to a note-based one, so each track can be shaped against the beat. A pendulum-style visual note meter lets you confirm which note value you are targeting while you listen. Version 2 adds tap tempo, a help mode and a new scope view.

Note-Value Calculation and the Visual Note Meter

The core of Metro v2 is its BPM-derived calculation table. You can enter tempo directly, or turn on SYNC to read the host session's BPM automatically. Tap Tempo lets you set the BPM by clicking the pendulum area.

The visual note meter is a pendulum that swings left and right. Full travel represents a quarter note, and dot markers show the 8th, 16th and 32nd positions. While shaping the attack, hold and release of a kick or snare with an expander or compressor, you can check the note value by sight as well as by ear.

PULSE FLOW SCOPE is a second visual mode. It traces one sine cycle across the window for the selected note value, from 1/1 down to 1/512, so the rhythm reads as a steady beam rather than a swinging needle.

ASSIST Modes and Copy Workflow

ASSIST shows recommended values for three processor types: an upward expander, a compressor, and a glue compressor for bus or master use. Each type has a NORMAL mode for processors without a DRY/WET control and an ADVANCED mode tuned for parallel DRY/WET processing, where you want to shape the envelope more aggressively.

Clicking any value in the table copies it to the operating system clipboard. You can then paste it straight into the parameter field of your target plugin, which keeps updates quick when you are working through several tracks.

Help Mode reveals a tooltip for each control when you hover over it for two seconds, which helps when you are learning the controls.
