01Overview

MAP is a synth plugin from GForce Software aimed at sound designers who want to go beyond conventional patches. Its architecture draws on West Coast experimental synthesis, with oscillators that can be waveshaped and frequency modulated, and a filter section that combines a multimode filter with a five-band resonant EQ. A generative polyphonic arpeggiator and XY Pad macros add performance and movement to the sound. The package includes over 300 presets, covering oscillator, filter, LFO and effects settings.

Oscillators, Filters and Sound Shaping

MAP uses three oscillators, one of them dedicated to modulation. Each can be shaped through waveshaping and FM, and the instrument includes a noise source for texture.

The filter section offers two options: a multimode filter and a five-band resonant EQ. You can route them in series or in parallel, which gives you a wide range of tonal shapes from one patch.

Oscillator and filter sections have their own presets, and XY Pad macros let you change several parameters at once for more expressive control.

Modulation, Arpeggiator and Effects

The modulation system is built around a modulation matrix and supports MPE, so expressive controllers can drive the patch. Modulation sources include envelopes and LFOs, and the developer notes that the instrument has three drawable LFOs and a noise-based random LFO.

The polyphonic arpeggiator is generative, so patterns evolve over time and can be explored with the XY Pad.

The built-in effects include a custom delay, reverb and character effects.
