Hikari by Lese stochastic reverb plugin navigator interface

Hikari: Stochastic Ocean-Themed Reverb Plugin by Lese Free Download

Rated 4.8/5 on Plugin Boutique (17 ratings)

Hikari is a stochastic reverb plugin by Lese that emulates uncommon 1990s and early 2000s digital reverbs. Its navigator and anomaly system change the reverb's behavior as you move around a two-dimensional space.

01Overview

Hikari is built for sound exploration rather than conventional room simulation. Its reverb algorithms take their character from the contours of an ocean-floor terrain, so the sound shifts as the navigator moves. Lese describes the plugin as an ocean-themed random reverb. Alongside the reverberator, Hikari includes an Illusion processor for disjointed reverse-style textures and a Fathoms control for adding depth to the signal.

Navigating the Ocean Floor Reverb Interface

The central navigator lets you move through two-dimensional space. The terrain beneath the navigator is sampled and used to subtly alter settings across the reverb algorithms. The two axes of the current position can modulate various parameters, using the same workflow found in Glow.

The navigator also has an autopilot mode, in which movement is automated and shaped by a set of controls. This makes it possible to let the reverb drift and evolve over time without constant manual adjustment.

Anomalies, Illusion and Fathoms Processing

The navigator points to several positions of interest called anomalies. Anomalies are randomly generated between plugin states, so their locations and effects are largely unpredictable. Getting close to an anomaly changes the sound, and some additional audio processes occur only in anomaly states.

Illusion is a short, granularized reverse-audio effect that reads from an audio buffer, bringing your sound back in a fragmented form. The Fathoms control adjusts the depth of the signal through multistage filtering, subtle decorrelation and light noise processing.

05FAQ

Questions, answered

What is Hikari?

Hikari is a stochastic, ocean-themed reverb plugin by Lese. It uses a navigator and an anomaly system to make the reverb behave differently depending on position.

Which formats and operating systems does Hikari support?

Hikari is available in VST3, AU and AAX formats. It runs on Windows and macOS, with VST3 and AAX supported on Windows and VST3, AU and AAX supported on macOS, including Intel and ARM Macs.

Is there a trial version of Hikari?

Yes, Hikari offers a trial.

What are anomalies in Hikari?

Anomalies are randomly generated positions in the navigator that change the sound when you move close to them. Their positions and effects are largely random, and some extra audio processes run only in anomaly states.
