Eigen: Reflection Processing Multitool by Lese Free Download

Rated 4.6/5 on Plugin Boutique (27 ratings)

Eigen is a reflection processing plugin from Lese that handles early reflections in real time, renders reverb impulse responses for convolution, and analyzes room resonance. It is available in VST3, AU and AAX formats.

01Overview

Eigen is built around three modes: Play, Render and Analyze. Play handles early reflection processing in real time, with sound source and listener positions set on a 3D object positioner. Render computes reverb impulse responses in the background, which you can save and load into external convolution reverbs or use inside Eigen itself. Analyze shows how a virtual space resonates at low frequencies. Lese says the plugin is a simplified version of an acoustic simulation system the developer has been designing for some time.

Positioning and Acoustic Simulation in Play Mode

The main Play mode lets you place the sound source and listener on a multidimensional object positioner. Drag along one of three axes and switch the active axis with the selector on the right, or use a more conventional set of dimension sliders instead.

Early reflections are processed up to seven reflections deep, with acoustic bouncing simulation. A sound propagation toggle removes the initial delay from both early reflection processing and the high-quality render system. Play mode can run in mono, stereo, or ambisonic settings at low or high quality, which covers both simple background effects and higher-fidelity spatial audio.

Rendering Impulse Responses for Convolution

Render mode creates high-quality reverb impulse responses using your dimension and material settings. You can set the reflection depth, enable material processing, and add late reflections. Early reflections can be rendered up to 40 bounces deep in this offline mode.

Lese says the High Quality Materials setting splits each reflection into ten frequency bands and processes them against measured real-world material responses. Because this is too heavy for real-time use, the results are rendered as impulse responses. You can preview them with the Convolution toggle and save them for use in other convolution reverbs.

05FAQ

Questions, answered

What formats and operating systems does Eigen support?

Eigen is available in VST3, AU and AAX formats. It runs on Windows and macOS, with the macOS version supporting both Intel and ARM processors.

What does Eigen's Analyze mode do?

Analyze mode uses the current Play mode settings to show how a space with those parameters would resonate against low-end frequencies. If you know a real room's dimensions, you can use it as a starting point for analysis.

Can I use Eigen's impulse responses in other reverbs?

Yes. Render mode lets you save the impulse responses you create to your computer for use in external convolution reverbs.

Is there a trial version?

Yes, Eigen offers a trial.
