01Overview

Halo Vision is built for mixes that go beyond stereo. It combines several configurable visual modules that show how channels relate to each other, where energy sits across the surround field, and how each channel peaks over time. NUGEN Audio developed it after interviews with its customers in the industry, with the aim of presenting complex information clearly and without heavy on-screen clutter. It is a metering tool rather than a processor, and it works with surround and immersive layouts up to 7.1.2.

Correlation and Phase Views for Surround Mixes

The Correlation Matrix shows colour-coded phase relationships between every channel, with a larger arched meter for closer inspection and anti-correlation alerts at a threshold you set. The Correlation Web draws a network of channels, with a line between each pair that lights up when those two channels become anti-correlated.

Both views use Contextual Correlation by default. NUGEN Audio says standard correlation calculations can flag two signals as strongly anti-correlated even when one is so much louder than the other that they would not cancel when mixed. Contextual Correlation compensates for these level differences, so the warnings focus on issues likely to cause a real problem.

Spatial and Spectral Analysis Tools

The circular Frequency Haze places low frequencies at the centre and high frequencies at the outer edge, with channel labels in typical speaker positions. The Location Haze shows where energy is distributed across the surround field, with brighter areas indicating more energy.

The Spectrum view offers a combined FFT graph of all channels or channels organized into groups. A True Peak meter for each channel and a timecode readout that follows the host playback position round out the set.
