01Overview

DRMeter is a metering plugin from MAAT, the developer of the DROffline batch utility. It runs in real time inside your DAW and gives a graphical and numeric estimate of dynamic range, alongside peak, RMS and overs indicators. The plugin is built for checking levels while you mix and master, so you can judge dynamics as the track plays. Its real-time readings are estimates, and the official DR number comes from the companion DROffline tool.

Metering Features for Mixing and Mastering

DRMeter shows SPPM peak, RMS amplitude, digital overs and digital black. The peak bar responds quickly, which helps when you set a limiter. An Overs alert flags peaks that could cause distortion on playback.

The RMS bars use slower, damped ballistics, so they give a sense of perceived loudness without fast movement. A green -18 dB RMS tick marks 0 LU, which helps with gain staging for both in-the-box and outboard workflows.

The DR bar graph can run as independent channels or as a summed left and right display. Its green, yellow and red colour coding shows how dynamic the signal is at a glance. A blue -∞ indicator appears when the DAW sends digital black.
