01Overview

Dawn is built around the EMT 250, a digital reverb from 1976 that many producers still regard as a benchmark for clear, open tails with a strong sense of depth. Wave Alchemy says it modeled and analyzed the original unit in detail, using a hybrid of DSP and convolution. On top of that core sound, Dawn adds a set of modern tools for shaping tails, including modulation, ducking, gating, transient smoothing and mid/side EQ. The plugin works on drums, synths, vocals and guitars.

EMT 250 Reverb Sound and Character

Dawn gives access to the reverb times of the original unit, from 0.4 seconds to 4.5 seconds, along with Low Frequency Decay and High Frequency Decay controls for damping. A Space mode offers a near-endless decay time for ambient pads and synths.

Three Character modes change the tail. Clean keeps the reverb clear, Vintage adds subtle warmth, and Gritty is an emulation of SP-1200 circuitry for a rougher texture. An Enhanced Modern mode extends the frequency range and dynamic range of the tail. A mono mode offers phase-coherent and summing options for vintage-style reverb tones.

Modulation, Dynamics and Stereo Controls

Dawn includes two modulation styles, Flux and Ensemble, for movement in the reverb tail. Its advanced DSP section adds a gate, ducking and transient smoothing, so you can control how the reverb sits in a mix.

The stereo field is shaped with dual-band width controls. A 4-band output EQ with mid/side functionality and tempo-synced pre-delay complete the set. Mix Lock and undo/redo for parameter changes help with editing, and a resizable high-definition interface suits larger screens.
