01Overview

Falcon 2027 is UVI's sound design instrument, built on a semi-modular architecture of oscillators, effects, modulators and event processors. The 2027 release adds four new oscillators, ten new effects, a modulator that draws its shape from audio, and 100 new presets. The factory library includes 1,700 presets and 500+ wavetables. Falcon runs on the UVI Engine XT core and supports MPE controllers, HD surround channel configurations and sample rates up to 192 kHz.

Sound Design Tools in Falcon 2027

Falcon's new oscillators cover a wide range of material. West Folder builds West Coast style voices from a single oscillator, with Symmetry, Timbre, Order and Round controls and an internal FM or AM modulator. FM Explorer is a three-operator FM engine with macro controls that morph between series and parallel operator arrangements. Spectral Stretch is a phase-vocoder oscillator that streams long recordings from disk and separates pitch from time. MultiSample maps zones across key and velocity, with round robin alternates and per-zone crossfades.

On the processing side, Falcon 2027 adds a Lowpass Gate, Wavefolder, FET Compressor, Feedforward Compressor, Steiner Filter and Passive EQ. The Steiner Filter blends between filter responses continuously rather than switching between them.

Workflow, Presets and Compatibility

Falcon includes a browser, flexible workspaces and tagging support for Falcon Expansions and UVI Soundware. Its Advanced scripts and events tools let you customize MIDI processing and sequencing. Falcon is available as a standalone application and as VST3, VST2, AU and AAX plugins on Windows 10/11 and macOS 10.14 to macOS 27. It needs 4 GB of RAM and an iLok account for license activation, which does not require a dongle. A license covers 3 activations on any combination of machines or iLok dongles.
