01Overview

Dorrough Surround is an effects plugin from Waves in the Surround Tools subcategory. It is built for checking levels across surround channels, so peaks do not create distortion and average levels stay in the right relationship to peaks. Waves developed the meter ballistics in close cooperation with Dorrough Electronics, and the plugin includes 5.0 and 5.1 meters along with all Dorrough Stereo meters. Surround Metering and Standards Modes

Dorrough Surround shows average and peak levels in a single meter, with peaks responding instantly while overall levels are averaged. Three calibration modes are included: DTS, ITU/SMPTE, and Film/Dolby Digital. An Overs LED stays lit when more than 3 samples exceed 0 dBFS, which helps when you need to meet level standards for film and television.

Meters can be shown in small, large or extra large sizes, and peak holds can be set to 3 seconds, held indefinitely, or reset on demand.

Meter Layouts and Phase Monitoring

You can choose Left/Right, Sum/Difference, or Phase Correlation modes to check how channels relate to each other. Controls for meter order, Sum and Diff/Phase, and Collapse Meters let you arrange the display around your session.

Vertical, horizontal and arc meter configurations are available, so the layout can match your monitoring setup and the number of channels you are checking.
