IK Multimedia designed CSR Room Reverb to reproduce the reverberation of medium to small acoustic spaces. The decay is not long, so the presence and timing of the early reflections carry most of the sound. The developer says this makes room reverb difficult to reproduce convincingly, and that the plugin focuses on getting those early reflections right.

Used subtly, the effect places a dry, close-miked source in a natural ambience. Pushed harder, it moves a track onto a different plane in the mix, which can make it stand out from the other elements.

The plugin offers fine-grained adjustment, so it can be shaped to suit a specific mix. The developer suggests it as a tool for building a mix where each track has its own position and space.
