01Overview

CLA Epic is a Waves effects plugin built around the idea that depth comes from blending different delays and reverbs on the same track and routing them to each other. It brings together eight effects: four delay types and four reverb types, all modeled on the hardware units Chris Lord-Alge uses in his studio. The plugin is aimed at producers and engineers who want to add space and dimension to vocals, drums, synths and guitars. It includes 350 presets from Chris Lord-Alge, Greg Wells, Michael Brauer and others as starting points.

Delay and reverb types for layered space

CLA Epic offers four delay types: Tape, Slap, Crowd and Throw. It also offers four reverb types: Plate, Room, Hall and Space, which the developer describes as a non-linear reverb.

You can layer and blend the eight effects on a single track to build more depth than one reverb or delay can provide. Delays can be fed into any number of reverbs with one click, so you can shape the signal path without complex routing.

Series, parallel and series-parallel routings give you flexibility in how the effects interact.

Modulation, tempo sync and presets

Each effect has its own modulation control for adding texture and spread. The delays can sync to the host BPM, which helps rhythmic delay and reverb settings lock to the song's tempo.

The 350 included presets, from Chris Lord-Alge, Greg Wells, Michael Brauer and others, can serve as starting points for vocals, drums, synths and guitars before you adjust the settings to your mix.
