01Overview

Plug'n Script runs scripts written in AngelScript or compiled C and C++ code, so you can prototype an audio or MIDI processor without leaving your host. Blue Cat Audio says the plugin has been used in its own lab to prototype several of its existing plugins. Each script can be exported as a standalone VST, VST3, Audio Unit or AAX plugin, and the interface adapts to the parameters your script defines.

Scripting Custom Audio and MIDI Processors

Plug'n Script accepts source scripts in the AngelScript language, which the developer describes as similar to C++, Java or JavaScript. It also loads native binary scripts built from C, C++ or Delphi and other languages that export C functions. Scripts can use up to 48 input parameters and 32 outputs, with full MIDI and automation control. Side chain input, auxiliary outputs and surround support for up to eight audio channels are included.

You can edit scripts in the IDE of your choice. The integrated JIT compiler turns scripts into machine code rather than interpreting them, which the developer links to better performance.

The user interface adapts to each script automatically. Custom layouts can be built with Blue Cat's KUIML language.

Included Scripts and Presets

The plugin ships with 57 scripts that include source code and 267 presets. They cover sound synthesis, MIDI effects, audio effects such as compressors, gates, tremolo, echo, filters and loopers, waveform generation, and file playback and recording. You can use them as they are or as starting points for your own scripts.
