Blue Cat's Late Replies is built around a delay engine with an 8-tap pattern section and two nested feedback loops. Each of these stages has plugin slots, so you can place built-in effects or third-party plugins directly in the signal path. The included ducker, with internal and external side chain, lets you duck delays or reverbs under a lead part. Easy mode gives quick access to a few key parameters, while full edit mode exposes the complete signal chain.

Delay Topology and Built-In Effects

The plugin combines a multi-tap pattern module with two feedback loops that include crossfeed. Each loop and the pattern section have their own plugin slots, which lets you shape repeats with modulation, EQ, filters, dynamics and pitch or frequency shifting.

The 30 built-in effects cover EQ, filters, pitch and frequency shifters, delays, modulation effects, a compressor, a gate, a bit crusher and a wave shaper. Tempo and host synchronization keep the repeats locked to your session, and the included feedback and output brickwall limiters help protect your ears when feedback builds up.

Workflow, Presets and Hosting Third-Party Plugins

Two interface modes cover different working styles. Easy mode lets you browse several hundred editable presets and adjust a few parameters quickly. Full edit mode opens the complete editor for building delays, reverbs and effects from scratch.

The plugin can host third-party VST, VST3 and Audio Unit plugins with latency compensation, and it lists missing plugins when a session or preset loads. The version 1.7 update added a plugin scanner and browser, along with full-text preset search that matches all search terms.
