01Overview

Bloom Palette Modular is the second Palettes release from Excite Audio, built to bring modular-style sounds into everyday production. Its 112 percussion samples are arranged into eight banks and played across 14 keys, from evolving drones and rhythmic pulses to glitchy percussive layers and harmonic pads. The Bloom sequencer sits at the center of the instrument, letting you trigger and layer one-shots and loops. Patches were created and recorded by Paul Willard and Dan Weatherall.

Sound Character and Sample Palette

Bloom Palette Modular draws on a curated Eurorack system, and the developer names modules including Make Noise DPO, Mutable Instruments Plaits and Make Noise Morphagene as sound sources. The result ranges from clean macro-synthesis and analog tones to digital percussion and granular textures.

The instrument is organized into eight sample banks with 112 percussion samples in total. Each of the 14 white keys triggers an individual sound, and black keys can launch phrases or change properties.

Workflow, Sequencing and Editing Controls

The Main Page offers four macros named Surge, Orbit, Corrode and Space, plus five main FX parameters: Noise, Reverb, Delay, Lo-Cut and Hi-Cut. Samples can be synced to the host BPM, and you can randomize samples or key selection.

The Edit Page provides sample-level controls including playback direction, playback modes, four choke groups, attack, release, pitch, formant and pitch warp. The sequencer handles triggering, velocity, probability and swing, and you can import up to 112 of your own samples to replace the included ones.
