01Overview

BLEASS Alpha Synthesizer is built around a left-to-right signal flow, so each panel follows the path of the audio from oscillators through filters, modulation and effects. The developer describes it as a way to design and play a wide range of sounds. Its signal path includes two stereo oscillators and a mono oscillator, two variable state filters, two LFOs per voice and a motion sequencer that can be coupled with the built-in arpeggiator. It runs as a plugin inside a compatible host DAW.

Sound Design Architecture and Modulation

The oscillator stage offers two stereo oscillators and one mono oscillator, each with variable waveshapes and pulse widths. Cross and ring modulation between oscillators are available, along with phase control on the stereo oscillators for a wider image and hard sync.

The filter stage has two variable state filters with drive settings and four filter shapes: low pass, high pass, band pass and notch. Modulation options include two LFOs per voice, an ADSR envelope with assignable targets, and a long list of destinations such as cutoff, resonance, pitch and oscillator wave.

Motion Sequencer and Playability

The motion sequencer is designed for rhythmic and expressive modulation. It offers snap mode, randomness, two modulation targets with adjustable amount, sequence length and beat resolution. Trig mode advances the sequence on each new note, while beat mode syncs it to the tempo. Global and notes dispatch settings determine whether modulation affects all voices or only the last note.

For performance, the synth supports MPE with timbre and pressure parameters, a built-in arpeggiator with beat sync, and assignable modwheel targets.
