01Overview

SampleWiz 2 was created by keyboardist Jordan Rudess together with French audio developer BLEASS. It is built to turn captured or imported samples into playable synth voices. Users can record or import audio, chop and granularize it, then shape the result with modulation, a Motion Sequencer and built-in delay and reverb. BLEASS describes it as an intuitive synthesizer for both musical performance and sound design.

Sample and Synthesis Workflow

SampleWiz 2 combines granular and cloud sample engines with the quick, hardware-style sampler approach. Capturing or importing a sound takes only a few clicks, and the developer says a few more actions turn it into a characterful synth voice.

The interface is split into six tabs. The General tab handles voices, glide, MPE modulation targets and the arpeggiator. The Sample tab covers capture, editing, loop points and the granular engine. The Filter/ADSR tab holds an overdrive processor, a multi-mode filter and amp and filter envelopes.

Modulation, Motion and Expression

Two freely assignable LFOs and a third ADSR envelope provide modulation, and each source can target up to two destinations. The Motion tab contains the BLEASS Motion Sequencer, which generates rhythmic movement and repeating modulation patterns that can be assigned to any two destinations.

With full MPE Slide and Pressure support, the instrument responds to expressive controllers. The FX tab adds delay and reverb for final polish on sound designs.
