BLEASS Shimmer: Pitch-Shifting Shimmer Reverb Plugin Free Download

The core of BLEASS Shimmer is its pitch-shifting reverb. Two pitch shifters can each be set from -24 to +24 semitones, with fine control of plus or minus 0.5 semitones, a delay time control and an amount slider. Each shifter works in one of three modes: Pre, which pitch-shifts the signal before it enters the reverb; Post, which shifts the reverberated signal; and Feedback, which shifts the reverb and feeds it back into the reverb stage.

The developer says the plugin can produce angelic sheens, ambient washes and otherworldly chimes. Its reverb length runs from 200 ms to 30 seconds, and a colour parameter shapes the high frequencies of the reverb tail.

The input stage includes a touch control filter with Low-Shelf and High-Pass types, an input gain control and reverb pre-delay. The ducker compresses the output using the dry signal as a sidechain, which the developer presents as a way to keep the mix clearer. Compressor controls are Threshold, Attack and Release, and a visual input sidechain meter shows the activity.

The reverb room size can be modulated in amount and rate. A preset manager is included for saving and recalling settings.

BLEASS Shimmer runs on Windows 8 and later (64-bit) and macOS 10.9 and later (64-bit only), including macOS 11 Big Sur and M1 processors. It is available in VST3, AU and Standalone formats. Because it is a plugin rather than a standalone product, you need a host application, and the developer states it is compatible with nearly all VST3 and Audio Unit compatible DAWs. A trial version is available.
