01Overview

ANOMALY is a frequency shifter from iFeature, built in collaboration with Virtual Riot. Instead of shifting the whole signal at once, it splits the sound into three bands and lets you move each one separately. That makes it a tool for altering the harmonic relationships inside a sound rather than only its pitch. The plugin includes MIDI keytracking, so frequency shifting can respond to the notes you play. It is distributed as a VST3 plugin for Windows and macOS.

Three-Band Frequency Shifting for Harmonic Control

Rather than applying one frequency shift across the full signal, ANOMALY divides the sound into three bands that you control independently. Each band can be transformed on its own, so low, middle and high content can shift by different amounts. This lets you target specific parts of a sound and leave others intact.

Because the bands are separate, you can build inharmonic textures that still keep some of the original character. Adjusting one band will not force changes in the others, which keeps the process predictable when you are sculpting a sound.

MIDI Keytracking and Ear Training

ANOMALY adds MIDI keytracking, so the frequency shifting can follow the notes you play. This helps when you want the effect to stay musically related to a melody or chord rather than sounding fixed.

The developer has also included an easter egg game designed to train your ears. It is a playful way to get more familiar with how the frequency shifting changes a sound.
