01Overview

OBRA is built around three processing stages: distortion, filtering and dynamics. Its two distortion engines cover soft, tube-style saturation and harder, grittier crunch. The multimode filter offers low-pass, band-pass and high-pass modes with selectable slopes, and the 3-band dynamics section handles both downward and upward compression. The plugin ships with 13 factory presets and a resizable interface, so it can serve as a starting point for sound design or as a finishing tool in a mix.

Best for

  • Vintage warmth on drums
  • Gritty bass distortion

Distortion, Filtering and Dynamics in One Plugin

The Tube knob adds smooth, soft saturation with odd-order harmonics, suited to warmth. The Mech knob pushes toward punchy, gritty and aggressive harmonics. Both engines can be shaped in the same plugin, so you can move between subtle coloration and heavy distortion without switching tools.

The multimode filter supports low-pass, band-pass and high-pass responses at 12, 24 or 36 dB/octave. Resonance runs from 0 to 100, and the cutoff can be tracked by MIDI for filter sweeps that follow your performance.

Using COMP and PHAT for Balance

The 3-band dynamics section applies two types of compression across low, mid and high bands. COMP is downward compression that reduces peaks in each band. PHAT is upward compression that lifts quieter detail and adds weight to the sound.

A parallel Dry/Wet control blends the processed signal with the clean signal, which helps keep transients while adding density.
