01Overview

Soul Gold is a preset expansion for Kontakt from Native Instruments, part of the Leap Expansions line. Its content centers on vocal material: the collection includes 160 vocal loops. The developer describes the sounds as soulful and draws on the feel of 60s and 70s soul while giving them a more contemporary production approach. The Leap series is built around playful performance tools, so the material is meant to be pitched, warped and sliced as a starting point for new ideas.

Vocal Loops Inspired by 60s and 70s Soul

Soul Gold focuses on vocal lines, hooks and harmonies. The developer says the sounds are inspired by 60s and 70s soul, and the set adds a modern production twist to that source material.

The collection contains 160 vocal loops, and the total download size is 0.16 GB. Because the content is loop-based, it suits producers who want to build chord-style vocal textures or hook ideas around a sampled foundation.

The Leap line is designed for experimentation. Native Instruments describes performance effects that let you twist pitch, warp speed and slice loops, which makes the loops useful for chopping and re-arranging.

Workflow and Requirements

Soul Gold requires Kontakt. A free Kontakt Player can run it, as can the full Kontakt version. Kontakt needs Windows 10 or 11 (latest Service Pack) or macOS 13, 14 and 15 (latest update).

The expansion runs as a Stand-alone application, VST3 and AAX on Windows, and as Stand-alone, VST3, AU and AAX on macOS. Both platforms require 64-bit systems. An internet connection is needed to download, install and activate the product, but it works offline afterward.

Some Leap Expansions are included in Kontakt 8 and Komplete 15 Standard and above, according to Native Instruments.
