01Overview

Leap Expansion - Afrobeats is a Native Instruments library built for Kontakt. The developer describes its kits as blending traditional African rhythms with modern production, with electric keys, rhythmic guitars, deep bass grooves and rich percussion patterns. The pack contains 158 sounds across nine categories, including 52 drum sounds, 42 percussion sounds and 19 guitar sounds. Its total download size is 0.7 GB. Because it runs inside Kontakt, it suits producers who already work with that sampler and want ready-made Afrobeats elements to start a track.

03In depth

Drums, Percussion and Rhythm Elements

The largest share of the pack is rhythmic. It includes 52 drum sounds and 42 percussion sounds, which gives producers a broad set of building blocks for Afrobeats grooves. The developer describes the percussion as rich and patterned, drawing on traditional African rhythms and combining them with modern production.

The rhythmic guitars add a second layer of groove. Together with the drums and percussion, they make the pack useful for building the rhythmic foundation of a track before adding other parts.

Bass, Keys, Guitar and Vocal Sounds

Beyond rhythm, the pack offers 11 bass sounds, 19 guitar sounds, 7 piano and keys sounds, 7 synth sounds and 12 vocal sounds. The developer highlights deep bass grooves and electric keys as core flavors of the pack.

The pack also includes 8 sound effects and 2 combo instruments, which can help with transitions and layering. Because the instruments are split by category, it is easy to pull in only the parts a track needs.
