Sound Character and Processing Styles
Wave Alchemy says the drums were processed in several distinct ways. Vinyl-cut drums are described as carrying subtle crackle and natural compression. Tape-printed drums gain saturation and rounded transients. Cassette-processed drums get a lo-fi wobble and weight. Room recordings are made in live acoustic spaces to add natural reflections, and amp-processed drums are described as having harmonic richness and midrange presence.
Because each processing method is kept as its own group, you can pick a character for a whole kit or mix sources from different groups to build a layered sound.
