01Overview

BFD Sleishman Drums is a preset expansion for the BFD3 drum production platform. Its drums are based on Sleishman's free-floating design, in which the drum shell is suspended without contact with lugs or other hardware. The developer says a patented tuning system keeps both heads precisely in tune. The pack focuses on a maple classic kit, with a 20-inch kick, 10-, 12- and 14-inch toms, and a bonus 14-inch maple snare drawn from the separate BFD Sleishman Snares library.

Sound and Character of the Sleishman Kit

BFD says the Sleishman system produces a distinct sound, sustain and dynamic range. The three included toms are described by the developer as having strong natural sustain, which suits tom fills and sparse arrangements where the decay of each hit is part of the sound.

The kick is tuned to be punchy and tight. It was recorded with both felt and rubber beaters, giving you two strikes to choose from depending on whether you want a softer attack or a more defined click.

The snare is a reduced-detail version of the Sleishman snare, played with both sticks and rods. Its articulations let you move between brushed-style textures and sharper hits within the same instrument.

Articulations and Kit Setup in BFD3

Beyond the standard strikes, the toms add rim shot and rim click articulations. These give you extra options for accents and percussive fills without loading a separate sound source.

The pack requires BFD3 and must be installed into it. With the full install, it takes up about 4.1 GB of hard drive space, and an internet connection is needed for download and authorization.
