03In depth

Kits, Cymbals, and Sound Character

The pack includes 72 instruments. The kits are modeled on a 1997 Sonor Designer and a late 90s Tama Starclassic, with Ludwig and Tama snares included. The cymbal and hihat selection draws from Zildjian, Ufip, Paiste, Turkish, and Sabian.

Many sounds come in hotrod or brush versions, giving you a different feel and attack without switching kits. Kicks are available with plastic and felt beaters and were recorded with four direct mics, so you can shape the attack and low end separately from the room sound.

Mic Options and Presets for Modern Genres

Two sets of overhead and room mics capture the ambience of the recording space, so you can blend natural room sound with a tighter, more focused mix. Up to 300 samples per articulation for kicks and snares give you fine control over dynamics and detail.

The included mix-ready presets are oriented toward pop and rock, but BFD says the pack suits any modern genre that calls for detailed, focused, and powerful drums.
