01Overview

BFD Signature Snares Vol. 2 is the second set of Yamaha artist signature snares released for the BFD drum library. It gives BFD users five additional snare drums to build into their kits. The package covers several articulations, including rim-clicks, and sounds played with sticks, brushes, mallets and rods, so producers can shape the snare to suit a wide range of grooves.

Snare Sounds and Articulations

The five snares in this expansion are Yamaha signature-series drums. Each one is available with multiple articulations, and the set includes a range of beater types: sticks, brushes, mallets and rods. That variety lets you switch between a crisp stick hit, a softer brushed texture and a rod or mallet sound within the same kit.

In BFD3 and BFD2, the snares add an extra rim-click articulation. BFD3 also provides a half-edge articulation intended for electronic drum positional sensing.

Using the Snares in BFD Kits

The developer describes the snares as punchy and upfront, with dynamic playability. The sounds were captured in similar conditions to the BFD Jazz & Funk and BFD Percussion expansions, as well as the snares used for the Mapleworks kits in BFD3, so they are designed to sit alongside other BFD library sounds.

The pack works in BFD3, BFD Eco and BFD2. Because it is an expansion, it needs the BFD software to run, and the BFD3 installation requires an internet connection for download and authorization. A full install needs about 5.8 GB of hard drive space.
