BFD Player Expansion: Jazz Sticks – Stick-Played Jazz Drum Kit for BFD

The pack centers on a vintage Camco Oaklawn drum kit recorded with sticks. The kick comes in open and dampened variations, which gives you two tonal approaches for the same drum. The floor tom is a 14x14 inch drum and the high tom is an 8x12 inch drum, so you have a low, a mid and a high tom to shape fills and melodic patterns.

BFD says the kit is meant for jazz, lounge, funk and blues. The stick-played articulation is the main reason to choose it over harder-hitting kits, since it suits quieter arrangements and rhythm sections that need to sit back in a mix.

The expansion includes a 14x4.5 inch Camco Oaklawn snare alongside the toms and kick. For top end, the pack adds a 24 inch Istanbul 30th Anniversary ride, an 18 inch Istanbul Dark Crash and a 14 inch Istanbul Agop Signature hi-hat.

Because the snare, toms, kick and cymbals are all included, the pack works as a complete kit. The ride gives you a sustained pattern source, and the crash and hi-hat cover accents and timekeeping.
