Sound and Processing Character

The channel strip is based on the Weiss DS1-MK3 and EQ1. The input section includes a 12 dB low-cut and a 6 dB high-cut filter from the EQ1, with discrete parameter steps for precise settings.

The EQ section uses the EQ1 in Low Latency mode without dynamics. All four bands offer a cut and boost range of -39 dB to +18 dB. The two mid bands work in peaking mode with a Q range of 0.2 to 650.

The compressor follows the DS1 with a limited feature set. Its ratio runs from 1:1 to 1000:1 and its attack can be as short as 0.02 ms.

Below-Threshold Compression and Workflow

The Shape section works below the threshold. It can perform normal expanding and gating, and it can also apply below-threshold compression. This lets you raise quiet detail, such as reverb tails or room sound on a drum bus, without changing the loud parts.

The Drive and Character section pushes gain into the limiter, which limits signals above 0 dB. Character selects among three limiter types, including the original DS1 limiter and an enhanced version.
