Drum Sounds and Playing Gestures
The library is built around two bodhráns and two tambourines. The main bodhrán is an 18-inch traditional Irish frame drum, typically played with a wooden stick. The main tambourine measures 8 inches. The two smaller drums are toy or souvenir versions, which give a different size and tone to the set.
AudioThing sampled the drums with sticks, hands and multiple gestures, so the instruments cover more than one way of striking each drum. Up to three velocity layers and up to eight round robin samples help the repeated hits sound less mechanical.
