01Overview

Syntorus 2 is the newest addition to D16 Group's Silver Line series. D16 Group says it was built as an analog chorus emulation inspired by classic synthesizers such as the Solina String Ensemble, Elka Synthex and Roland Juno-106. The plugin is aimed at producers who want a chorus with a warm, analog character. It is a processing effect that runs inside a host DAW, and a demo is available.

Analog BBD Delay Lines and Sound Character

Syntorus 2 uses three delay lines, a setup D16 Group describes as richer and deeper than the single delay found in most chorus units. The delay lines are modeled on bucket brigade device (BBD) hardware. By default the chorus is clean, and an Analog BBD Emulation option adds more analog warmth and character to the signal.

Every delay line parameter is adjustable, so the sound can be shaped from subtle thickening to heavier modulation. The plugin is described as suitable for synth basses and leads, as well as guitars and acoustic or electric instruments.

Modulation, Tremolo and Tempo Sync

Three LFO generators provide modulation. Each offers six waveforms, timeline-locked tempo sync and independent phase shift controls for the left and right channels, with a link option. An amplitude control with invert option is included, and three LFO-to-delay-line routing configurations are available.

Each delay line also has a multimode filter and a tremolo effect, both controlled by the same modulation sources as the delay time. The filter can be used to create Leslie-style sounds, and the tremolo can be used alone or added to the modulated delay line.
