01Overview

SubBoomBass 2 Upgrade from SubBoomBass 1 is intended for users who already own SubBoomBass 1 and want the successor's features. The upgrade keeps the original presets and adds spectrum waveforms, Karplus-Strong string synthesis, a grain sample mode and a ratcheting sequencer. The interface has been reworked with a resizable GUI, an X/Y screen and a Bank Manager with a star feature for finding favorite sounds quickly.

Sound Design and New Synthesis Options

Rob Papen says SubBoomBass 2 keeps its analogue-modeled waveforms and expands the sound palette with spectrum waveforms and a new range of samples. Karplus-Strong string synthesis and a grain sample mode for granular resynthesis add sound sources that the original version does not offer.

The filter section gains zero latency filter types and ring modulation, plus a post filter distortion mode. Clipper, tremolo, vibrato and ring modulation effects give further options for shaping bass and synth sounds.

Sequencing, Modulation and Control

The sequencer adds a new ratcheting feature and a pattern mode for running four sequences. New monophonic play modes, low note and high note, let you control how notes are triggered.

New modulation sources and destinations extend the routing options. Poly MPE support allows expressive control from compatible MIDI controllers, and the resizable interface scales to 100%, 125%, 150% or 200%.
