01Overview

Pre V76 is built around the Telefunken V76 preamp, a vacuum-tube design that became a studio staple for decades. Arturia uses its TAE analog modelling technology to recreate the preamp's character inside a plugin. The result is a vintage channel strip that adds the tonal shift and soft clipping associated with tube electronics to modern recordings and virtual instruments. Sound and Character of the V76 Preamp Model

The core of Pre V76 is the V76 input gain control. As the incoming signal gets hotter, the model adds more of its tonal flavor, and at higher levels it begins to break up with harmonically rich soft clipping. This makes it suited to adding warmth and push to individual tracks.

The equalizer section is modeled on a modified Telefunken V612 and offers a high shelf and a low shelf. Each can be cut or boosted by 10 dB, which allows subtle balancing of a signal rather than heavy sculpting.

Arturia says the plugin also includes a multi-mode high-pass filter for removing low bass frequencies.

Workflow and Presets for Mixing

Pre V76 is designed to be loaded as an insert effect on a channel. The included presets give a starting point, so you can dial in a sound quickly and then adjust the input gain and EQ to suit the material.
